Pre-Productiom - Character Profiles

Character profiles for media thriller film
Characters:
Jessica Bradshaw:
Jessica’s family used to live in the city. About a year prior the when the film is beings set her family moved to this lovely country house, this seemed very odd to Jessica as they were very settled in the City but her parents have insisted that they only moved to start a new life with the ‘friendly’ people in the county, still Jessica has slightly resented her parents ever since the move. Living in the country has not worked for her as thus far, it is just a far cry from her city life style. Other kids at her new school have never taken a great shining to her; this in itself does not bother her it is more the fact that they have never given her the chance.

Jessica is a girl who is used to getting what she wants, she is a likable characters, and is quite she will not be intimidated and will not fall in to peer pressure, so basically a typical teenage girl, sure of herself likable and not afraid to put her opinions.Hooded figure without a name (the bad guy):The so called hooded figure is a very shady and mysterious character; we meet him early on in the film while he is what looks like following Jessica.Little is know about this man, but rumours have been spreading around that they are a group that has lived in the area around the house for generations; some say they are called The Cult of The Black Crow.

Many people say that the stories surrounding this group of people are not true, but this man would like to prove otherwise…Martin and Molly BradshawMartin and Molly Bradshaw are the parents of Jessica. The two of them were both born and raised in London. They met in London and lived in a city of some description for the majority for the life, but when they saw that a lovely country house was for sale they could not resist, although this seems to have caused a few problems with their daughter.

  1. Check this thoroughly and tidy it up. Link it to examples of thrillers you have studied and refer to conventions more often.

  2. The character is very much similar to the "girl next door" convention. She is the girl who is average and not in any cliques. Very much happy with herself apart from the typical things all teenage girls deal with.

It is normally thought that the innocent girl who cause no harm is the one to get trapped or chased. This is to make to killer seem stronger and obviously show the audience that.

Linking this character to thriller films:
In a different situation is the girl in "Jaws". By making her innocent it adds to the convention of a shark being evil and strong.
Another film is Psycho. The innocent girl having a shower and then the slow approach to her from behind makes her seen vunerable and easy victim for the killer.
