Pre- Production - Costumes

As you can see the leather face character where no colour full cloths which are raged and cut to show that he does not care about his looks. We will be going for blacker look to be more symbolic. This is as black show evil and a dark side to life and also death as you are lower to the darkness. Leatherface is one of the scariest and most famous horror villains of all time, we are thinking we would like to have the same impact on our audience, so using a example of leatherfaces costume was appropriate.

Killer’s costume-

Black hoody (For the villain) – The Reason we wanted to use black because it show connotes evil dark and also secretive. We are hoping to use a hood this will hide the identity so the audience will not be able to relate to the killer as they can not see his face. This will also make him more mysterious and we believe that a bit of mystery is important for our character.

Black trousers (For the villain) –

The black trouser are being used for the same reason as the black hoody. It will also mean that he can hide in the darker places easier, this could mean that we could the actor using this costume the ability to hide in a area and suddenly appear to come out of nowhere

Victim costume –

These cloths are very fitting for the girl as they are semi country with semi fashion for that 70’s era. It is also very symbolic as it is red to show dander and then white to show a nice person with no dark side.
She also has a skirt which makes her seem more open and easy to talk to. This is also out of a horror film

We will be using cloths like this as the white and red cloths as they symbolise different things to black. White represent calm and also very contemporary. The red represents that the girl is in danger and she is normally sexy.

The killer’s weapon –

We though he will have knife as a weapon, Knifes are used in many horror and thriller films like in Vacancy. A knife symbolises more of an assassin type of killing as it is silent and also it can cause more of a pain full death as the killer can stab the victim where he want from the foot to the head. Stabbing some one in the leg would be more horror type kill as the killer would make it more painful and really slow death

This is England Case Study

How do filmmakers use new technologies to help attract audiences to their films?

Film makers use new advanced technology to attract their target audiences to get higher rating and gain a profit in double figure millions. However companies such as Film Four, have small budget films and are after keeping an audience, but only make small profits so attracting there audience is crucial.
In many of the websites that are associated with the production UK use new technology through monthly newsletter which you apply for free. (Optimum Releasing and Screen Yorkshire) This is more effective than sending it through the post as the majority of today’s society use a computer daily. By having a huge database from film reviews to actually purchasing the film, it allows their target audience to gain a broader knowledge of the film they may see or again, purchase (BFI). New technology can allow some of UK productions to get to the target audiences through social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. Video links have become increasingly popular on the homepages of the websites and also pod casts.
Distributing films such as Shane Meadow’s ‘This is England’ can be difficult as it was funded by the national lottery which means lack of money for advertising. However websites such as IFC entertainment give links to the film’s blog which gives an insight into how these films are made. By putting it into sections; such a theatrical releases and DVD releases gives a more direct link to the audience.
There are many different ways you can distribute the DVD. Examples of this may be a website giving a trial such as Netflix (the largest online DVD rental service, offering flat rate rental-by-mail and online streaming to customers in the United States) and them giving the audience the chose of through post or through the Internet to their TV. Also having a whole website dedicated to the film shows the audience the preparation the directors and actors went through to create the film. An example of this is Shane Meadows ‘This is England’ which gives behind the scenes footage etc. This is just another way that filmmakers use technology to attract audiences.
Relating the issues within the film can be another way that the filmmaker attracts their audience to the film. Shane Meadow’s deals with racism and rights of passage in ‘This is England’ and by attacking the issues through reviews, this attracts his audience as they will show an interest as they will understand more about it and form their own opinion.

Pre-production - casting

Casting

Killer Character – We are 99% certain we will be Using Jamie Fisher as our killer character who is going to be called …………. We will be using him as he is tall and also he does sport and as we will be doing many takes of the chases scene we will need some one who will be able to run at the same pace with no laps in speed and also no tiredness show as he may seem slow in one part but then real quick the next second. He also lives very local and he is a very calm person who will be able to talk to but will not muck around that much as he know some of us. He also lives near by.

Female Character – We are not that certain who we will be using but it is between Grace Birchill or Maisie East. We are wanting to use them iver of them because Grace does Drama for AS level and Maisie has been used before in a BTEC film. They also do sport quite a bit so they will be both able to do the chase scene over and over again as we will want to do it from many shots. Grace lives near by but |Maisie live a little while away but I sure one of us could pick her up.

The Parents – We will be using great camera trick as none of our parents want to do it. We will be using feet of some people in our group and just the words “ bye darling” or some think bye that with may be a quick sweepy pan of TV on. It will be easy as we will probably use some feet of any one in our group.

Other characters – We should not be using anyone else but we might just have a few local people in the film as they go around doing there day to day life. We would like to have no one in our film because that would create a better atmosphere and at would give the allusion of isolation and desolation.
